Conduct

Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in the word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

1 Timothy 4:12

The 2nd thing mentioned is conduct, why conduct? If you are a believer in Jesus Christ your life should confirm the biblical principles on how to live your life that are found in the bible. Conduct is personal behavior, it is a way of acting or how to behave or manager oneself.

How do you conduct yourself in public, with friends, with your parents, or at school? Do you act differently when you’re with different people? The way you act tells others about your relationship with Jesus.  Your heart spills outward what is within (Prov. 4:23; John 13:35). In my own life I know if I haven’t read my bible for a few days I can get short and aggravated quickly with others. I’ll be negative because my eyes are not on Jesus. In those times my conduct changes and it’s not for the better.

Godly Conduct:

  • Helps build up other believers
  • Drives a closer relationship with Jesus
  • Good witness to unsaved friends & family

Ungodly Conduct:

  • Weakens fellow believers & can compromise them
  • Is a bad witness to unsaved friends & family-

Your Christian life in the world should look like a life that is given to Jesus.  You will slip up. There will always be times that you have little mess up along the way. It’s what you do with those little mess ups, or maybe sometimes big mess ups, that matters.

Now by this we know that we know him, if we keep his commandment he who says “I know him” and does not keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps his word truly the love of God is perfected in him by this we know that we are in him.

1 John 2:3-6

What does your conduct say about you?
